Kevin Patterson, assurance partner at BDO Grand Rapids, was elected to the World Affairs Council Board of Directors on November 28, 2018. Patterson will be taking the place of Paul Kozulis, who recently left to work at BDO’s Charlotte, N.C. headquarters. Prior to BDO, Patterson was an audit senior manager at Crowe. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Grand Valley State University.
Patterson is very involved in the West Michigan community, with leadership efforts for the Ronald McDonald House of West Michigan, Junior Achievement, Grand Valley State University and the John Ball Zoo. Recently he was named to the investment committee of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
The Grand Rapids Business Journal named Patterson one of 2017’s and 2018’s “40 Under 40” business leaders.
He wrote: “I believe in the mission and believe that with my skills, knowledge and involvement in the West Michigan community, I can help the World Affairs Council further equip the people and organizations of West Michigan to engage thoughtfully with the world.”
Executive director Michael Van Denend said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin to the Council board. We’re impressed with what he has already done in the community and we know his abilities will be helpful to our organization. He brings enthusiasm, networking skills and thoughtful insights for encouraging more people to become world aware.”
